Prayer gives us an Eagle Eye into heaven’s domain (14)

Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

King David

I went for a long walk along a beach connected to an estuary, where I caught sight of a White Bellied Eagle 🦅 eat it’s freshly caught lunch.

As I walked closer and closer, the Eagle seemed un-intimidated by my presence. I got within metres of it and it didn’t move at all, it just enjoyed its lunch. Every now and again it would stare through me, acknowledging my presence but kept on enjoying its fresh prey.

Fact is, that beautiful creature saw me coming a mile away, sized me up and kept me in its scope. I was not a surprise.

I then kept on walking and I saw another eagle hovering over the water hundreds of metres in the air. It was so gracious floating effortlessly over the waters looking for it’s lunch. It was hypnotic watching it command the atmosphere with its wings. I then watched it dive straight into the water from its heavenly position like a rocket launch in reverse.

Every aspect of these magnificent eagles was an insight into dominion. These birds didn’t fear other birds of prey, they were the royalty of the sky. They didn’t fear if there was food in the abundant waters, they caught more than they needed.

We as God’s creation often forfeit our birthright and rather than take our position in the sky through prayer and worship, we scratch in the dirt for worms like domestic chickens.

King David in his psalm reminds us to acknowledge who we are in God and the benefits that come as a result.

1. Forgiveness

2. Healing

3. Abundant Life

4. Position of Royalty & Privilege

5. Love, Compassion & Youthfulness

All these blessings aren’t conditional on our abilities, they are conditional on our belief in a God who called us to be His Ambassadors.

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah

A prayer filled life comes with great benefits, when an ambitious life runs out of steam.

I must admit, I lived off ambition and self motivation for way to long and ended up in a ditch of despair. It wasn’t till I came back to God and surrendered all, that He took me up to heights I’d never seen.

Watching that Eagle 🦅 yesterday as it stared back at me, it was like looking at a spiritual mirror, and words coming to me “When are you going to fly again?”

Prayer & Worship will take you to great heights to see further, Prayer & Worship will take you places of abundance and favour.

Perhaps a it’s time to surrender your chicken scratching days and take your place in Heaven’s Domain.
