Still unlearning religion, still learning Jesus.
There’s something in all of us that wants to explain God.
We write. We speak. We reflect.
Poets search for words. Songwriters search for melody. Preachers search for clarity. Prophets search for revelation.
And in many ways, we’re all doing the same thing… trying to express something of God.
But we have to be careful.
Because no matter how eloquent we become, we are still only vessels.
We Reflect, But We Are Not the Source
At our best, we echo truth. We carry glimpses of something eternal.
But we are not the origin.
We don’t define truth. We don’t create life. We don’t embody the fullness of God.
We point. We don’t replace.
Jesus Is Not Just Another Voice
This is where everything changes.
Jesus Christ is not simply one of many voices trying to describe God.
He is not just a prophet among prophets. Not just a teacher among teachers. Not just a messenger carrying a word.
He is the Word.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” — John 1:1 (ESV)
More Than a Vessel
We are vessels, carrying something we’ve received.
But Jesus is not a vessel.
He is the source.
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us…” — John 1:14 (ESV)
Where we reflect, He reveals. Where we speak about God, He is God made known.
The Way, The Truth, The Life
At some point, we all have to come to this line:
Is Jesus just a voice… or is He everything?
Because He didn’t leave us the option of reducing Him.
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” — John 14:6 (ESV)
Not a way. Not a truth. Not a life.
The way. The truth. The life.
Final Reflection
We can admire wisdom. We can appreciate poetry. We can be moved by powerful words.
But eventually, we’re invited beyond admiration… into surrender.
Not to an idea. Not to a philosophy. But to a person.
And in that place, we realise:
We are not the light. We are not the source.
We are simply those being drawn to Him.
Still unlearning religion, still learning Jesus. Walking it out, together.
