One of the great problems in our generation is that everybody wants to redefine Jesus.
Some call Him a mystic.
Some call Him a guru.
Some say He travelled to India or Tibet searching for enlightenment.
Others reduce Him to a prophet, a wise teacher, or simply a good man.
But what if we stopped listening to the endless reinterpretations and simply let Jesus speak for Himself?
No one can reveal a person more truthfully than the person themselves.
And throughout the Gospels, Jesus spoke clearly about who He is.
“I am the bread of life.”
“I am the light of the world.”
“I am the door.”
“I am the good shepherd.”
“I am the resurrection and the life.”
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
These are not the words of a mere sage or spiritual philosopher.
These are the words of someone claiming divine authority.
When Moses asked God His name, God said,
“I AM.”
Then Jesus steps into history and repeatedly says,
“I AM.”
The witnesses who walked with Him did not conclude He was merely enlightened. They concluded He was the Son of God.
Thomas fell before Him and said,
“My Lord and my God.”
John wrote,
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
The issue today is not that people ignore Jesus.
It is that many create a version of Jesus that suits their own spirituality while rejecting the Jesus revealed in Scripture.
Some religions rewrite Him.
Some philosophies dilute Him.
Some modern voices mystify Him.
But the real Jesus does not need redefining.
He spoke for Himself.
And His words still confront humanity today:
“Who do you say that I am?”
Jesus is not merely a reflection of human potential.
He is the Son of God, the fulfilment of prophecy, the Saviour of the world, and the only true doorway to the Father.
So perhaps the greatest thing we can do in this confused generation is return to the simplicity of the witnesses and let Jesus speak for Himself.
